I believe the reason for Chibi-Usa’s pink hair is directly a result of Usagi’s father. Despite being King of the Sun, I’ve always seen him as red haired. Because Usagi took after her mother, it’s always seemed to me that the red became a recessive trait that passed down the line to Chibi-Usa, thus giving her the pink hair instead of blonde/white or black, because her mother’s line was more dominant then Mamoru’s.

Princess Serenity’s father

I’ve always believed that Princess Serenity’s dad in the time of the Silver Millennium was the King of the Sun who had managed to woo Serenity-mama. We just never saw him because he died before Serenity was born.
