I think Princess Serenity didn’t have a father, mainly because of the fact that the series is 85% girls.
There seemed to be no mention of a King in the series or many men on the Moon Kingdom.

The Gardens of the Crystal Palace
It’s pretty much canon as far as I know that there are rose gardens on the grounds of the Crystal Palace. However, I believe that each of the senshi also get a plot dedicated to them as well. Most of the girls let the gardeners work their plots, but Makoto actually maintains her garden on her own. Unfortunately for her and the others, the roses (despite dedicated care) eventually mingle entirely with the other plots. However, no one really minds as the roses don’t kill the other flowers and the flowers sort of represent how the best of Serenity tends to seep into everyone she loves.
Rei still insists that Serenity makes the roses “invade” the other gardens on purpose.

Crystal Tokyo and random loose endsWhen the Inner Senshi used that crystal sword to focus their powers and wake up Usagi in the manga, the sword lay forgotten and frozen at Point D after Metallia was defeated. (I don’t think you see it again, ever?) At the end of the manga years later, after the world was healed by Usagi and they wanted to create Crystal Tokyo, the sword was recovered and ‘planted’, stuck in the ground at the center of the (current? ruined?) Tokyo and used as a seed around which the Palace grew. It remains as an equivalent to that pillar thing in the remains of the Moon Palace and is a really useful power focus.

Female SenshiThe reason all senshi are female- and why male starseed carriers (Mamoru) are weaker fighters- is simple enough. (Meaning: bear with me.)
A senshi holds the responsibility for her planet and dies when separated from her starseed. A senshi capable of using two starseeds would not only be responsible for two planets, but would have access to twice the power. In this way, Chibiusa is an anomaly because she can tap into both the power of the Earth and of the Moon.
Originally, when there were certain ‘rules’ being set for senshi, it was decided they should all be one one gender so there would be no breeding between them with the end result of, say, a senshi with the power of twenty planets. (Hard name to get one’s mouth around as well. [Which could, when extended, explain Sailor ‘Cosmos’ as a possible amalgamation of many planets?] Anyway…)
The reason females were decided upon was because senshi were descendants of the royal family of their planet, usually in a patriarchal system. Crown princes were too important and busy being future kings, although occasionally (in the instance of Endymion) a starseed would be passed to the wrong person. This left some less-important princess or another to be trained as a warrior to serve and protect her planet.
In the case of one such as Mamoru, the powers of his starseed manifested in a lesser, weaker way so as to be unassuming and not attract much attention; again, to avoid him being prey to some senshi who decided she wanted a daughter twice as strong as herself. Which brings to point another reason the people of the Moon couldn’t marry those from Earth- everyone knew Earth was missing a senshi so until she was reborn as a girl, the Earth would have been ‘quarantined’ to prevent senshi cross-breeding (and related mutations; albinoism, slow growth, or dwarfism for example).
So Chibiusa is basically what the powers-that-were didn’t want to happen, but oh-well-for-them-anyway.
…And we all know she dyes her hair.

While Jupiter and Mars may be more powerful compared to Venus in terms of attacks, Venus actually had other skills (like social and political abilities) as well, which is why she was promoted as the leader of the Inner Senshi.

The smartest and strongest of those on the planet Mau are given the privilege of guarding royalty among other planets. In exchange for this, resources are given to the Mauians. As having primarily feline forms, not much can be done on their own, thus they rely on the help and resources of others. Their economy is based solely on this practice. Very few Mauians are able to use a humanoid form, and many that do are serving on other planets, aiding the planet that they have been sworn to.

Minako learns languages relatively fast and is very good at them. This is because as leader of the senshi, she had to speak to other military leaders from different planets during the Silver Millennium.
However, with her great linguistic abilities, Sailor Venus usually confused the sayings from different planets and languages. She often butchered the phrase and sometimes offended whoever she was speaking to.

Though not reincarnated by the work of Queen Serenity and the Silver Crystal, the people close to the Sailor Soldiers in the 20th century are reincarnations of citizens of the Silver Millenium. Usagi/Serena’s mother is actually the reincarnation of Princess Serenity’s nurse during her childhood. Rei’s grandfather is actually the reincarnation of the priest of the main shrine on Mars. Others such as Greg, Naru/Molly, Umino, and anyone else with close ties to the lives of the Sailor Soldiers are also reincarnations from the Silver Millenium.

The reason Sailor Soldiers have coloured nails under their gloves is diplomatic.
There were certain political situations, especially during discussions with the Earth, where all Sailor Soldiers had to present themselves in their un-transformed, weaker states.
However, if a Sailor Soldier were to transform and remove their uniform, there would be nothing to tell the two forms apart. The coloured nails were, then, a permanent marking which could not be removed, proving when they were and were not transformed.
